About White Pine, TN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
White Pine, Tennessee was settled in the early 1780, with log cabins built along the banks of the French Broad River on the south side of town and Long Creek to the north. The community was originally known as Dandridge crossing, but got its new name when it acquired a post office in 1872. According to local legend, it was named for an unusually tall white pine tree located across the street from the log cabin belonging to one of the town fathers. The town was incorporated in 1893, but was forced to rebuild after most of the downtown area was destroyed by fire in 1905. The newly rebuilt town incorporated again in 1915.
Today, White Pine remains a small town with just over 2,000 residents. It has one famous historical property, the Isaac White Rodgers Franklin house, which was built in the 1850s and is East Tennessee's only deep south antebellum house located in its original plantation setting. White Pine is also home to the preK-8 White Pine School, and boasts its own weekly newspaper, White Pine Weekly. White Pine has a fairly humid climate, although summer heat is somewhat tempered by its elevation of 1,138 feet. Winters are chilly, but snowfall is limited.
